Framed Te Matau a Maui - The Fish Hook of Maui

This artwork is a contemporary representation of Te Matau a Maui, crafted from plantation grown hardwood and embellished with paua shell. The Manaia (guardian spirit) guides the Mauri (life force) of the fish to the place of peace and tranquility. The koru (fern frond) at the base of the beak also symbolizes peace, tranquility, new life and new growth. Te Matau a Maui represents wit, friendliness, a strong will and a determination to succeed until the end of life.

Each piece is individually signed by the artist, Mike Carlton, and comes complete with wall mount and related story to back.
