The Wheku
A wheku is placed at the roof gable of a meeting house.  It is a carved face or mask that represents an important tipuna (ancestor). Traditionally wheku were carved in two different styles: the wheku style and the koruru style.  The main difference in the koruru style is the large rounded eyes.
