Originally called The Kākahu (Maori cloak) was a garment from early Maori times.  It was made from traditional materials such as flax and feathers.  They were worn as a sign of honour or to signify prestige.

Korowai is now the more recognised term for these Maori cloaks. They are worn for a variety of reasons, for example for a graduation, they are sometimes given  as a congratulatory gift or worn as a connection to New Zealand heritage and tradition.

This Mini Korowai is a beautiful example of a Maori Cloak, it is Hand Made in New Zealand from traditional materials.  It makes a stunning wall piece.

Wording: Whanau are never apart, maybe in distance but no in the heart.
